About this Product
Sail Shipped Takahashi Brazil 70% Dark Chocolate Bar
Bringing you this incredibly special limited edition bar for 2026, featuring cocoa beans sailed across the ocean.
At Chocolarder, sustainability has always shaped how we source our cocoa. We began importing sail-shipped cocoa beans in 2015, supporting a slower, lower-impact alternative to conventional freight. After several years of logistical and sourcing challenges, we’re excited to once again be working with sail-shipped beans through partners including TOWT and Nahu.
These beans travelled by sail to France before making the final journey to the UK alongside our own trip back from Bordeaux, helping minimise additional transport impact. While small in scale, these bars represent our commitment to lower-carbon shipping, thoughtful sourcing, and chocolate with a deeper connection to origin.
Grown in the tropical region of Tomé-Açu in Pará, Brazil, Jorge Takahashi’s cacao is cultivated within a diverse agroforestry system beneath a canopy of fruit trees. Combining Forastero and Trinitario varieties, the beans develop distinctive complexity through biodiverse growing conditions, careful hand harvesting, seven-day wooden-box fermentation, and slow sun drying.
The packaging is a collaboration with local illustrator David Doran, a globally renowned artist. We really wanted the packaging to reflect the incredible growers, the journey across the sea and the makers here in the factory in Falmouth. We couldn’t be happier with the final result.
Enjoy!
